Realise Your Potential
The world is full of potential talent. In fact, every child has it.
Whether or not they are able to make the most of their unique potential depends upon a variety of factors out of their control.
Children who ‘make it’ are often no different to those who do not. Maybe they were born in the right place. Maybe they have the right connections and role models. Maybe they have enough money to participate. Or maybe they were simply lucky enough to perform to their best when a scout happened to turn up at their game.
Whatever the reasons, we believe that traditional talent identification is flawed and unfair. And we want to help change it for the better.
The time is right to spark a movement.
To support children and young people to make the most of their sporting potential.
To inspire them by providing real opportunities and an effective platform to show their best selves.
To create fair access to suitable development pathways to any child bold enough to put themselves forward.
One thirty second video at a time.
This is a movement about uncovering and optimising potential talent.
And Scout Yourself is leading the way.
Allow us to help you realise your potential.

Who We Are
Scout Yourself Founder & CEO, Matt Richardson, has spent the past decade working in professional youth sport, including talent identification roles at the Football Association (England) and Premier League Academy level.
Forced to give up his role as Head of Academy Recruitment at an EFL club following a serious car accident, Matt is more determined than ever to positively impact the development journeys of as many young people as possible across a range of sports and activities.
Matt is a UEFA A License coach and holds degrees from both the University of Nottingham and the University of Birmingham. He is currently undertaking a Doctor of Professional Practice in Sport (DProf Sport) degree at Leeds Beckett University.
Our Beliefs
Talent is multidimensional and emerges over time
A child’s ability to maximise their long-term potential is influenced by a variety of factors out of their control
Young people understand their potential better than any scout does
No two players are the same. Processes must reflect this fact
We should prioritise long-term potential, not current performance
If all young people enjoyed the same opportunities & access to sport, the players that ‘make it’ would likely be different
Interpretations of individual potential must be made in appropriate context
Sport should be rewarding, enjoyable and fun!
